It’s no secret: tax season is stressful, especially if you’re a business owner. It’s the time of year when you finally have to address and organize that mountain of documents and receipts sitting in your filing cabinet (or shoebox) in order to meet the April deadline (or June if you’re self-employed). As we mentioned, there are many factors to consider when it comes to sorting out your company’s finances and filing your taxes. Not to mention, the CRA tends to spend a lot of time auditing businesses. So it’s important to ensure you’re doing things right.

QuickBooks was founded by 1983 by Intuit and has been a leading accounting tool for everything from personal to corporate taxes, and in-between. There is no denying that hiring an accountant can take this weight off your shoulders; but, as a savvy business owner why wouldn’t you consider this cost-effective alternative? According to Stokes Visca & Company LLP “you can use [QuickBooks] to run a $5 million or $25 million business for a few hundred bucks.” So we think, with a little patience and the right know-how, you can learn how to effectively manage your own bookkeeping using this simple tool.

We’d like you to meet Lloyd, a lifelong Edmontonian, who has worked on and with accounting software since Graduating in 1997. He has trained thousands of small business owners across Canada on setting up and using computerized bookkeeping programs. His specialty has been QuickBooks, but he has also trained on Simply accounting, Wave, and Xero.
